4 New SARS Patients, 5 More Deaths Confirmed in HK

Four new patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), and five more deaths were confirmed, according to a statement jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

Four new patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), and five more deaths were confirmed, according to a statement jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

As of 1:00 p.m. Saturday, there is an additional four patients,including one health care worker, have been confirmed to have SARSfollowing admission to public hospitals earlier.

A total of 1,191 patients have recovered from SARS and have been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, 20 were dischargedon Saturday. There are now 210 active cases under treatment in hospitals, of whom 47 patients are in intensive care unit.

In addition, 66 are recovering patients in convalescence and inpreparation for discharge.

Five patients died, bringing to 243 the total number of deaths relating to SARS.
