Chinese President Sends Condolences to Russian Counterpart

Chinese President Hu Jintao has sent condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the terrorist attack in Chechnya, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao has sent condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the terrorist attack in Chechnya, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

In a message to Putin, Hu, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, expressed his deep sorrow for the victims of the attack and extended his condolences through the Russian president to the families of the victims.

Hu said facts have once again proved that the anti-terrorist fight is a long and arduous task. He added that the Chinese government resolutely opposes terrorism in all forms and would continue, as always, to support the Russian government in fighting terrorist forces and maintaining national unity and territorial integrity.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Wednesday sent condolences to his Russian counterpart,Igor Ivanov, over a recent terrorist attack in Russia's Chechen Republic.

Li expressed his deep sorrow for the victims in a message and asked Ivanov to extend his condolences to the families of the victims.

Li said China has always been firm in opposing terrorism in allforms and supporting Russia's efforts to fight terrorist and separatist forces and maintain national unity.

The Sino-Russian cooperation and mutual support in maintaining sovereignty and territorial integrity and fighting terrorism have become a substantial part of the strategic coordination between the two countries, said the Chinese foreign minister.
