Chinese President Extends Greetings to Nurses

Chinese President Hu Jintao Monday extended greetings of praise and thanks to China's nurses, especially those combating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic on the front line, and to all Chinese medical workers.

Chinese President Hu Jintao Monday extended greetings of praise and thanks to China's nurses, especially those combating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic on the front line, and to all Chinese medical workers.

Hu sent the greetings for International Nurses Day from the People's Hospital of Fushun County, Zigong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province, during his inspection tour of SARS control inrural areas.

In his remarks, Hu thanked the medical workers for their outstanding contributions to SARS control, but pointed out that risks of SARS spread still remain and tasks of SARS prevention and treatment ahead are still arduous.

He urged continuous conscientious efforts in SARS control whileensuring the safety of medical workers themselves.

Hu expressed confidence that with the concerted efforts of the people and the use of scientific SARS prevention and control methods, China will definitely win the battle against SARS.
