The Beijing Union Medical College Hospital said Saturday that all six expatriate severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patients had recovered and left the hospital.

The hospital spokesman said that, since April 9, when the hospital was designated by the government to receive foreign SARS patients, six expatriates, two Canadians and four Americans, had been admitted as SARS cases.

The hospital currently has 17 beds for foreign SARS patients, and the attending doctors and nurses are proficient in English.

An Indian national was also admitted with SARS-like symptoms, but doctors have now diagnosed him as having typhoid fever. The patient will be transferred to another hospital for further treatment soon, the spokesman said.
