China Prepares for Upcoming SCO Summit

China is making preparations for attending the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to be held at the end of May in Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said at a press conference here Thursday.

China is making preparations for attending the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to be held at the end of May in Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said at a press conference here Thursday.

According to the SCO charter, the heads of state of SCO member countries can hold a regular meeting every year, Zhang said.

Zhang said this year's summit will be an important meeting, at which member countries will discuss issues concerning the SCO's development and make important decisions.

Zhang said the member countries will sign legal documents concerning SCO mechanism building.

During the meeting, the leaders of the six member countries will also exchange views on regional and international situations,Zhang said.
