Chinese President to Attend North-South Leaders' Informal Meeting

Chinese President Hu Jintao plans to attend the upcoming North-South leaders' informal dialogue meeting,Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said here Thursday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao plans to attend the upcoming North-South leaders' informal dialogue meeting,Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said here Thursday.

Zhang noted at a regular press conference that French President Jacques Chirac had formally invited Hu to attend the meeting, which was scheduled to be held in Evian, France on June 1.

China deems that such a meeting at this moment is very important for maintaining global peace and boosting the mutual development of various countries. China supports the proposal of France and is making some positive preparations.
