HK Govt Forms Strategy Group for Revitalizing Economy

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa has instructed Financial Secretary Antony Leung to set up a strategy group to help revitalize Hong Kong's economy after the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromy (SARS) is contained.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa has instructed Financial Secretary Antony Leung to set up a strategy group to help revitalize Hong Kong's economy after the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromy (SARS) is contained.

The strategy group will advise the government on the necessary measures to revitalize Hong Kong's economy once SARS has been brought under control, said a Hong Kong government release Wednesday.

It group will also assist the government to prepare and implement a comprehensive program of promotional activities.

Leung, as chairman of the strategy group, has appointed 18 members drawn from the relevant economic sectors, local and international Chambers of Commerce, research institutes and academia.

The group also include Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Henry Tang; Secretary for Economic Development and Labor, Stephen Ip; Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Frederick Ma; Secretary for Home Affairs, Patrick Ho; Director of Information Services, Yvonne Choi; and Director of theChief Executive's Office, Lam Woon-kwong.

Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mike Rowse, will serve as the secretary of the strategy group.
