Maintenance of Russia's defense capability at a proper level remains one of the most important state goals, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Wednesday.

Maintenance of Russia's defense capability at a proper level remains one of the most important state goals, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Wednesday.

"Military force still remains a means for attaining political ends" as the world is still facing with the threat of war and conflicts, Ivanov addressed a Kremlin concert Wednesday, which is devoted to the 58th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory overNazi Germany, Interfax reported Wednesday.

He pointed out that the objective of maintaining Russia's defense capability can be attained through implementing large-scale plan of developing Russia's armed forces, which has been approved by the Russian President".
