says China hopes for further cooperation with the US on SARS prevention and treatment.
During a telephone conversation with her US counterpart, Tommy Thompson, Wu Yi said China has stepped up measures to combat the deadly virus, but the situation remains grave.
She added that SARS is the enemy of mankind, and defeating it requires cooperation and exchange of experiences. She said that China and US should do more in this area.
In response, Tommy Thompson said the Chinese experience in treating SARS is of great importance to other countries, and the US would like to cooperate fully with China and will provide assistance and support to help find an effective cure.
