Taiwan
reported one new fatality from SARS on Sunday, bringing the number of SARS deaths on the island to eight.
Authorities say the number of new cases increased by 14, bringing the total confirmed SARS cases to 116. There are also 165 suspected SRAS cases there. Most of the new cases were related to the Taipei Municipal Hoping Hospital --where cases first started appearing on the island in March.
The hospital was closed last week and its 200 patients have been isolated. The hospital's 900 person staff has been ordered to remain in the facility for two weeks.
