Food and daily necessities were in stable supply during the May Day holiday in Beijing.

Meat, eggs, vegetables, milk, salt and instant foods were in ample supply in the city's major supermarkets despite a limited supply of disinfectant.

Vegetable prices remained stable. The city's largest vegetable market, Xinfadi market, supplied 7.15 million kg of vegetables forsale every day during the holiday, up 38 percent from the same period last year.

To relieve the pressure on the supply of disinfectant, the Beijing Commercial Committee expanded goods supply channels to other provinces. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, a total of 1.78 million face masks, 3.62 million tons of disinfectant and 6.51 million bars of medicinal soap had been transported to Beijing.

During the holiday, the city's major chain restaurants such as McDonald's, Huatian and Lihua all increased their home delivery services.
