No further SARS deaths have been reported in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, in the past two weeks, say health authorities.

Statistics showed a drop in new SARS cases and an increase in the number of SARS patients being cured and discharged from hospitals since the outbreak of the virus in February.

The Guangzhou municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Guangzhou municipal government on Friday published a special letter of appreciation to all medical staff working against SARS.

While heralding the medical workers as peace-time heroes, the authorities urged them to continue working towards complete victory in the fight against the epidemic.
