Hong Kong's recent SARS trend of decreasing cases is encouraging, said a latest report of Goldman Sachs, an international financial institution.

The report said Hong Kong's method of quantifying the risk shows tentative signs that spread of virus has reached the peak.

The report said it believes the impact of SARS should last no more than two quarters.

"The key point to watch going forward is the trend in the mortality rate among those infected," said the report.

Goldman Sachs said it is maintaining its 1.7 percent GDP growth target for Hong Kong this year.
