The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said the roadmap peace plan is aiming at liquidating the just cause of the Palestinian people.
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of the Hamas, made the remarks following the peace plan was delivered to both Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas (also known as Abu Mazen).
"The roadmap aims to assure security for Israel at the expense of the security of our Palestinian people," sitting in his wheelchair, the paralyzed leader told reporters in Gaza city.
He said Hamas rejected the roadmap plan for Palestinian-Israeli peace, adding that his movement would never drop its guns and would continue armed attacks against Israel as long as Israel occupies the Palestinian territories.
The roadmap, backed by the Quartet of the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations, was released hours after the swearing-in ceremony of Abbas and his cabinet.
The peace plan, which envisages full Palestinian statehood to live side by side in peace with Israel by 2005, is highly expected as a fundamental resolution to end the 31-month bloodshed between Israelis and Palestinians.
