Pyongyang Accuses US of 'Torpedoing' Denuclearization Process
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Wednesday that the United States is "torpedoing" the denuclearization process in the Korean Peninsula.
The official KCNA news agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that the United States, which has persistently pursued its strategic aim against the desire of the Korean nation,"finally went to the lengths of torpedoing the process of denuclearization."
"The reality (Washington's persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK) requires the DPRK to deter the escalating US moves to stifle the DPRK with a physical force, compels it to opt for possessing a necessary deterrent force and put it into practice," said the spokesman in a statement.
"The United States is entirely to blame for this development."
The spokesman warned Washington against bringing this issue to the United Nations.
"If the United States finally brings up the nuclear issue for discussion at the United Nations and abuses its name again, the DPRK will be left with no option but to consider taking practical measures to cope with an emergency."
"Whether the Korean peninsula becomes denuclearized or not will entirely depend on US policy."
The DPRK and the United States held a three-day meeting last week in Beijing without achieving substantial progress on the settlement of the nuclear crisis.
