The municipality was implementing a program regarding the development of transport, post and telecommunications facilities, and postal services between 2003 and 2007, a committee source saidon Wednesday.
The city was expected to register an average annual gross domestic product (GDP) increase of 15 percent in the trade transport sector between 2003 and 2007, which accounted for an average annual rise of 0.5 percentage points in its total GDP, thesource noted.
The program would be phased in three stages, including the construction of seven major projects by 2007 such as expanding the existing port, airport, railway, highway and postal facilities.
