Indian Test Confirms that Missiles are Reality in SA: Pakistan

The latest test by India of the Prithvi missile was simply a reconfirmation that missiles were nowa reality in South Asia, spokesman of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The latest test by India of the Prithvi missile was simply a reconfirmation that missiles were nowa reality in South Asia, spokesman of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The spokesman made the remarks while commenting on the latest test by India of the Prithvi missile, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

"It comes in the wake of continuing reports about India's acquisition of missile technology from abroad," he said.

To another question if India had given advance notice to Pakistan, the spokesman replied that this came as "a pleasant surprise" since only about a month ago when Indian conducted a similar test it did not notify Pakistan and had defended its decision by saying that there was no need for such confidence building measures.

The spokesman said that Pakistan's record on the other hand indicated a uniformly responsible attitude reflecting a clear consistent vision favoring measures for nuclear, missile and conventional arms restraint.

He said that such measures were necessary for promoting peace and security between the two nuclear neighbors, an objective whichcould only be advanced through a comprehensive dialogue whose importance Pakistan had stressed time and again.
