Japan Provides Medical Assistance to China

The Japanese embassy to China says the donations include protective clothing, face masks, respiratory machines as well as laboratory equipment and medicines.

Japan is planning to provide a batch of medical equipment to China worth 205 million yen, or 1.7 million US dollars in support of the country's ongoing fight against SARS.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry told a press briefing that the Chinese government is thankful for the assistance from Japan.
