China's Health Authority Extends Regards to Medical Workers
China's Ministry of Health Saturday lauded the devotion of the country's medical workers to the ongoing fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), calling on them to continue their efforts to contain the disease.
China's Ministry of Health Saturday lauded the devotion of the country's medical workers to the ongoing fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), calling on them to continue their efforts to contain the disease.
In an open letter to the country's medical workers, the ministry said the professionalism and spirit shown by the country's medical workers in the struggle against SARS have earned them praise, respect and trust from the people.
President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have visited and extended their regards to some medical workers treating SARS patients, and given them highly positive comments and praise on their performance.
The letter described the comments and praise as great encouragement and support for the medical and health workers.
The ministry praised several hospitals and medical workers by name for their outstanding contribution to the fight against SARS.
Some medical workers have died of SARS after they were infectedby the disease in the course of their duties.
The letter called on medical workers across the country to continue their efforts to prevent and control the disease as the SARS situation was "still very serious".
