Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and prime minister-designate Mahmoud Abbas reached agreement Wednesday on the makeup of cabinet to end days of power struggle, Palestinian officials said.

Arafat and Abbas, who is also known as Abu Mazen, "have sorted out their differences" as a result of mediation by a senior Egyptian envoy, announced Tayeb Abdul-Rahim, a senior aide to Arafat.

Under the deal, Abbas would also take portfolio of interior minister himself and Mohammed Dahlan would be put in charge of security affairs.
