WHO Expert Says China Moving in Right Direction

The WHO's chief representative in Beijing, Dr. Henk Bekedam told reporters in a telephone briefing that China's efforts to curb the spread of the SARS virus are are "moving in the right direction".

The WHO's chief representative in Beijing, Dr. Henk Bekedam told reporters in a telephone briefing that China has started to report fully and act on the WHO's advice. China's efforts to curb the spread of the SARS virus are are "moving in the right direction".

He said all hospitals, including military hospitals, are reporting infected cases and the country has sent more people to strengthen the public health surveillance system.

But Dr. Bekedam added that training people properly was still an enormous job, and the entire international community should contribute to the prevention and treatment of the virus
