WHO to Hold International Meeting on SARS

The World Health Organization (WHO) plans to hold an international scientific meeting in Geneva to review the epidemiological, clinical management and laboratory findings on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and to discuss global control strategies.

The World Health Organization (WHO) plans to hold an international scientific meeting in Geneva to review the epidemiological, clinical management and laboratory findings on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and to discuss global control strategies.

A WHO statement said key participants in the response to the current outbreaks and other public health authorities will be invited to attend the meeting. A report of the meeting will be posted on WHO web site.

The outbreak of the first SARS case was reported in last November. According to the cumulative number of reported probable cases by 17 GMT on Tuesday, there are 3947 people in 27 countries and regions have been affected by SARS. Among which, 80 are new cases reported since last WHO update, 229 people died and 1,350 recovered.
