China's transportation sectors nationwide have been urged to prepare enough buses and vessels to transport medicine and equipment for epidemic prevention.

China's Ministry of Communications Tuesday issued an emergencynotice to all of its provincial branches and required preparation for any emergency transportation needs in case of the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

The local transportation sectors are also urged to keep files on those vehicles ready for emergency transportation and to form an efficient dispatching mechanism to ensure timely operation.

In addition to the preparation in road and waterway transportation, the ministry will also cooperate with the Ministryof Railways and the General Administration of Civil Aviation to guarantee the transportation of SARS prevention medicines within 24 hours.
