Chinese Senior Military Officer Meets Indian Defense Minister

China and India have implemented conventions on border issues and maintained stability in the border area, said Guo Boxiong, vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission, Monday.

China and India have implemented conventions on border issues and maintained stability in the border area, said Guo Boxiong, vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission, Monday.

During a meeting with visiting Indian Defense Minister George Fernandes, Guo said the two countries have made progress in developing military relationship in recent years.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army is willing to work with the armed forces of India for friendly relations.

Fernandes said his talks with Guo were fruitful, hoping his visit would create the appropriate atmosphere for an early settlement of issues and differences between the two countries.

This is Fernandes' first visit to China.
