Five People from Overseas in Beijing Confirmed to Have SARS

Five people from overseas in Beijing were confirmed to have severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and another four from overseas were suspected of the disease, the Information Office of the State Council said in a press release Sunday afternoon.

Five people from overseas in Beijing were confirmed to have severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and another four from overseas were suspected of the disease, the Information Office of the State Council said in a press release Sunday afternoon.

The city has reported 339 confirmed SARS cases, including 24 medical workers, eight students, and 28 people from outside Beijing. Among its 402 suspected cases, 41 were medical workers, 42 were students and 21 were people from outside Beijing.

Of the total, 18 patients died, and 33 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
