Spanish PM to Visit Paris, London for Iraq Talks
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar will meet with his French and British counterparts next week for talks about the post-war reconstruction in Iraq, officials said Saturday.
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar will meet with his French and British counterparts next week for talks about the post-war reconstruction in Iraq, officials said Saturday.
Aznar will travel to Paris Tuesday to talk with French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin on the Iraq conflict as well as the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. He will be in London Wednesday to meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
In Paris, Aznar is scheduled to attend a conference to analyze last year's electoral experience in France. The far-right NationalFront of Jean Marie le Pen surprisingly defeated Socialist Lionel Jospin in the first round of the presidential elections and entered a runoff with President Jacques Chirac.
The Spanish leader has no plan to meet with Chirac, who will not be in Paris on those days. Chirac is a vocal critic of the US-led war on Iraq while Aznar is a firm supporter of the war.
