China Invests Heavily in New HIV Test
Henan Province in central China will invest 56.5 million yuan (6.8 million US dollars) to produce a new reagent which can accurately detect the presence of the HIV virus as early as 15 days from the probable date of infection, an official said Saturday.

The reagent, a patented product, has been developed by a leading international bio-medical engineering company based in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital, said the official with the provincial department of science and technology.
Production will begin a year from now, with an annual production capacity of 30 million units, company sources said.
