Sources with Beijing's taxi companies said Friday that 98.54 percent of the city's taxis have conducted qualified sterilization in line with the sanitary standards set by the health authority.
The taxis are required to use odorless disinfectant for regular sterilization. And taxi companies have provided drivers with white gloves, sterilized paper tissues and pamphlets for passengers.
Taxi drivers have also been instructed to identify passengers with SARS symptoms and report suspected cases to the health authority immediately.
In addition, the city has sterilized all public buses, and the sterilization is stringently enforced in bus lines running along hospitals and other severely-affected places.
