50 SARS More Patients Discharged from Hospitals in HK

Thirty new patients with the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) were admitted to, while 50 were discharged from, hospitals in Hong Kong, according to a statement jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

Thirty new patients with the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) were admitted to, while 50 were discharged from, hospitals in Hong Kong, according to a statement jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

As at 1 pm Friday, there are an additional 30 patients confirmed to have SARS following admission to public hospitals earlier.

A total of 322 patients have recovered from SARS and have been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, 50 were discharged Friday.

Most of the patients currently in hospital are showing positiveresponses to the new treatment protocol. 120 patients are receiving treatment in intensive care unit.

Four patients died in hospitals, bring to 69 the total number of SARS-related deaths. The cumulative figure for patients who have been admitted to public hospitals with SARS since March 12 is1,327.
