This Year Saw 168 Killed in Fire Accidents in China

Fire accidents incurred enormous losses to the nation and the property and lives of the people. Up to April 8, serious or extraordinarily serious fire accidents come to a total of 76 in number, claiming 168 lives and with 37 injured, witnessing a direct property loss of RMB 7 billion yuan.

As the reporter learnt on Thursday from the fire-fighting departments the big and extraordinarily big fire accidents in China have become very serious since the beginning of this year. Up to April 8, serious or extraordinarily serious fire accidents come to a total of 76 in number, claiming 168 lives and with 37 injured, witnessing a direct property loss of RMB 7 billion yuan.

According to the statistics, there happened three extraordinarily serious fire accidents this year, each of which caused the death of over 10 people at one time. Such fire accidents, especially the accidents causing a large number of casualties, incurred enormous losses to the nation and the property and lives of the people. Ministry of Public Security has therefore held the television-phone meeting to require relevant departments all over the country to firmly control serious and extraordinarily serious fire accidents.
