China Announces Men's National Volleyballers for Olympic Qualifiers

China has established a new national men's volleyball team to vie for a berth in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and a nice result in the Asian championships.

China has established a new national men's volleyball team to vie for a berth in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and a nice result in the Asian championships.

The 15-strong squad led by head coach Di Anhe groups some veterans and young talents, the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA) said here on Thursday.

The 34-year-old setter Wang Hebing will play a key role in the team with his experience and skills. The ace spikers in China, Hu Song, Shen Qiong and Wu Xiaojiang form the attacking line which will be reinforced by Shi Hairong, who is not tall enough but is more skillful among the Chinese spikers.

All the team members will gather in Beijing at the end of Aprilwhen the national league ends, the CVA said.

The following are the whole squad:

Yuan Zhi, Wang Haichuan, Chu Hui, Tang Miao, Shen Qiong, Cui Xiaodong, He Jiong, Shi Hairong, Zhang Xiaodong, Li Hang, Zheng Liang, Wang Hebing, Hu Song, Wu Xiaojiang and Li Chun
