Beijing to Set up its Own Olympic Coordination Commission
The Beijing municipal government has decided to set up its own coordination commission to assist the Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), the government said.
The Beijing municipal government has decided to set up its own coordination commission to assist the Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), the government said.
The Coordination Commission will serve as a bridge between the government and BOCOG in dealing with all kinds of work related to the 2008 Olympics, a statement issued by the government said.
The Commission will be made up of five departments, namely the Supervision Department of the Olympic Venue Construction, the Planning Department, the Liaison Department, the Project Auditing Department and the Secretariat, the statement added.
The International Olympic Committee also has a coordination commission for the 2008 Games. It was established in November 2001after Beijing won its Olympic bid and is chaired by Hein Verbruggen of the Netherlands.
