Foreign investors are confident about Hong Kong in the long run as the SARS now affecting the city is only a temporary phenomenon, Mike Rowse, director-general of Investment Promotion of Hong Kong, said Monday.
Foreign investors are confident about Hong Kong in the long run as the SARS now affecting the city is only a temporary phenomenon, Mike Rowse, director-general of Investment Promotion of Hong Kong, said Monday.
He noted that the fundamentals of Hong Kong which prove to be attractive for foreign investment haven't changed, and foreign investors "haven't lost their appetite for" Hong Kong and China as a whole.
Rowse pointed out that investment is a long-term decision for companies and will not be changed lightly, adding SARS which is a concern for investors for the time being will be resolved sooner or later.
According to Rowse, some companies deferred their investment plans instead of canceling them, while others opened their businesses in Hong Kong as scheduled, but put off the publicity activities to a later time.
"When the cloud of SARS is blown away, the opportunities that investing in Hong Kong represent will become more visible," he said.
