China will for the first time open the projects nominated for a series of state science and technology awards to public examination.

For one month, people can visit the website of China's National Office of Science and Technology Awards (NOSTA), at www.nosta.com.gov.cn, to give their comments and opinions on these projects.

They will be required to leave their names, or their suggestions will be considered invalid.

The office says this will help guarantee the authenticity of the information provided by visitors, whose personal information will be strictly protected.

After this one-month period, NOSTA will spend two months considering the validity of the opinions.

Nearly 700 projects are competing for the State Natural Sciences Award, the State Technological Invention Award and the State Science and Technology Advance Award.
