When the Houston Rockets take on the Portland Blazers, they will be well aware that nothing less than victory will suffice.
Yao Ming and his team-mates will play a vital back-to-back, with two games in as many days, first against the Blazers and then Utah Jazz.
The Chinese rookie centre will be looking to improve on his performance the last time the Rockets met the Blazers, when he finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Last time his team lost to the Blazers 94-83 in Portland, but today the Rockets know they will have to win in the Compaq Centre.
Meanwhile, The Phoenix Suns will be hoping to gain even more ground when they take on the lowly Denver Nuggets on the same day. They are looking to hold on to the eighth and last Western Conference Play-off spot.
The Rockets are now only a half a game behind the Suns.
