Iraqi Information Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahaf stressed Tuesday that his country will defeat US-led coalition forces.

"We will destroy them," Sahaf told reporters near the Palestine Hotel, which was hit by a US missile earlier.

"US forces will be repelled in Baghdad," he said, adding the forces are being trapped in tanks, which are incapable of leaving the Iraqi capital.

"Baghdad was in full control by Iraqi forces," he said, Iraq's anti-aircraft artillery units have been firing at coalition warplanes, and Saddam Fedayeen troops are dealing with the invading troops in some areas in and around Baghdad.

"Not at all," Sahaf said when asked about if he was frightened.
