1,200 Bangladeshis to Join Iraq Suicide Squad

over 1,200 people from Bangladesh, the third largest Muslim-majority nation, will join suicide squad in Iraq to fight against the US-led war, said a leaflet available in Dhaka Monday.

More than 1,200 people have registered their names in a suicide squad "to fight the Invasion of Iraq by alliance forces," said the leaflet of a new platform styled Mritunjayee (win of death) Squad formed with different Islamic groups in Bangladesh, which is recruiting people to train and send them to Iraq.

"People across the world are united now against Bush and Blair.They are the new Hitlers of the world. Come forward to save humanity from the clutches of these warlords," read the leaflet of the Islamic groups.

A six-day campaign programme was arranged, inviting Islamic minded people to register their names to go and fight the allied forces. This campaign would continue up to April 11.

On the first day, members of the squad stationed themselves in front of the National Press Club, near the city center, to register the names of the interested persons. Once the registration is over, Mujaheden would be chosen from the list. Allkinds of training including that of arms would be provided. They would also be equipped with necessary knowledge on Iraq and fighting tactics.

More than 5,000 trained people, who had fought the Palestine Liberation War are to join the group, said Ziaul Kabir Dulu, president of repatriated freedom fighters of Palestine Liberation Organization.

The organizations remained tight-lipped when asked how these fighters would be dispatched off to Iraq.

With the commencement of war in Iraq, fragmented Islamic groupsgreatly increased their activities in the capital and they have called upon each other to unite under a common platform against "the non-Islamic Western forces."

Since February this year, different Islamic groups have been staging agitation in the capital and elsewhere everyday against the Iraq war.

Some 5,000 activists of the Islamic groups after Friday prayerson April 5 invaded some offices of the Anglo-US businesses in the capital, ransacked offices and torched furniture.

Meanwhile, several hundred freedom fighter, who fought the country's Liberation War in 1971, also announced they would join the war in Iraq to fight against US-led forces.
