Key Ministries Still Controlled by Iraq

The Iraqi forces still controlled the key ministries such as the Information Ministry and Foreign Ministry after the US forces started to attack the center of Baghdad early Monday, Qatar-based al-Jazeera television reported.

The Iraqi forces still controlled the key ministries such as the Information Ministry and Foreign Ministry after the US forces started to attack the center of Baghdad early Monday, Qatar-based al-Jazeera television reported.

Earlier, an Associated Press (AP) report said that US troops seized key buildings in the center of the Iraqi capital on Monday,including a major presidential palace and the Information Ministry.

Al-Jazeera also said that units of US special forces have parachuted into the center of Baghdad on Monday.

A total of 65 US tanks and 40 fighting vehicles were reportedly involved in the operation.
