DPRK not to Accept Any UN Resolution on Nuclear Issue
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will not accept any resolution the United Nations Security Council might adopt on its nuclear issue at a meeting next week, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Saturday.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will not accept any resolution the United Nations Security Council might adopt on its nuclear issue at a meeting next week, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Saturday.
"The DPRK will not recognize any resolution but consider invalid any 'resolution' or other document to be adopted by the UNSC at the meeting, yielding to the US unilateral and self-justified assertions," the DPRK's official news agency said in a commentary.
The meeting to be held by the UN Security Council on April 9 on the DPRK nuclear issue is "a product of the political and diplomatic pressure from the United States," it added.
The nuclear issue, which is only a bilateral issue between the DPRK and the United States as a result of "the US policy to stifle the DPRK," should not be discussed at the United Nations, the commentary said.
The commentary said the Security Council should indict the US for its "gangster-like acts" of violating the DPRK-US Agreed Framework and "defying international law" before handling the DPRK nuclear issue.
"There is no other alternative way of settling the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula than holding direct talks between the DPRK and the US and concluding a legally binding non-aggression treaty," it reiterated.
