Chinese Military Official Leaves Beijing for South Africa

General Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, left Beijing Saturday for South Africa to attend the first meeting of the Sino-South Africa Defense Committee.

General Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, left Beijing Saturday for South Africa to attend the first meeting of the Sino-South Africa Defense Committee.

General Xiong and his party were seen off at the airport by Major-General Zhang Bangdong, of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense, and Major-General Zeng Haisheng of the General Office of the PLA General Staff Headquarters.
