Corporate Heads Express Growing Confidence in China's Economy
The confidence index of Chinese corporate heads reached 132.5 points in the first quarter of 2003, a rise of 6.9 points over the last quarter of 2002, according to information released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Friday.

The index reached its highest point in recent years, indicatingentrepreneurs' growing confidence and optimism with regard to China's macro-economy.
The index for entrepreneurs from the state-owned companies reached 127.0 points, up 6.9 points and 12.3 points over the firstquarter of this year and the first quarter of 2002, respectively. The index of investors from overseas, including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, exceeded 140 points.
The confidence index of entrepreneurs from all industries, especially those of the warehousing and postal industries, has grown substantially.
In addition, the indices of entrepreneurs from small, medium-sized and big enterprises reached 151.3 points, 123.1 points and 113.8 points, respectively.
