Vice-premier Urges Better Economic Cooperation between China, France
Chinese and French businessmen are encouraged to work together in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to strengthen the friendly cooperation between the two sides, Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi said Thursday.

Wu said in a speech at the opening ceremony of the China-France Economic Seminar, which began Thursday, that the Beijing Olympiad will bring huge business opportunities for businessmen from France and other countries across the world.
"China always attaches great importance to economic cooperationwith France," Wu said. "As two major influential world powers, China and France should expand their areas of cooperation."
Wu became China's vice-premier last month. She said the Chinese Government will support Beijing in its preparations for the 2008 Olympiad because it will be a great driving force for China's urban construction and sustainable economic growth.
The annual seminar is hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Municipal Government of Beijing and the France-China Committee. The theme of the seminar is "The 2008 Olympiad and the sustainable development of China".
The Chinese vice-premier said China will continue to exercise apro-active fiscal policy, a stable monetary policy and policy of opening-up to the world. She said that this year's economic growth target of about seven percent is achievable.
More than 700 Chinese and French businessmen attended the two-day seminar.
