SCO Expert Meeting on Emergency Response Held in Beijing

An expert meeting on emergency response from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Beijing Tuesday and Wednesday.

An expert meeting on emergency response from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Beijing Tuesday and Wednesday.

During the meeting, the experts from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrghyzstan, Russian Federation, Tadzhikistan and Uzbekistan agreed after discussions on the draft of a pact on inter-governmental mutual help on emergency response.

The draft, which regulates the principles, ways and procedures in disaster response, is expected to be signed at the second meeting of the SCO emergency response leaders which is scheduled to be held in autumn this year.

As part of the effort to strengthen the consensus so far obtained, experts from disaster relief departments of the SCO countries signed the minutes of the meeting.
