Capital Steel Closes down Converter for Reducing Pollution
The Capital Steel Group, one of the major polluters in Beijing, the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games, has further sacrificed its capacity by closing down its last converter for reducing pollution, according to company sources.

To date, the steel complex has reduced its steel production capacity by 2 million tons. Its annual production capacity now stands at 6 million tons.
More steel and coke manufacturing facilities are expected to beclosed this year.
The company is building a new industrial area in Qian'an, in neighboring Hebei Province, with a yearly steel output of 2 million tons.
The company has also been setting up a series of new productionlines to improve the structure of its products to meet market demands.
Meanwhile, it is trying hard to create new jobs for laid-off factory workers.
