Great Wall Beneath Water (II)

The Panjiakou section of the Great Wall located in the Panjiakou reservoir in Manchu Autonomous County of Kuancheng in north China's Hebei Province. It is unique and named for "Great Wall beneath water".

Built about 500 years ago, the 50-kilometer-long Panjiakou section and Xifengkou section of the Great Wall once were two key passes leading to northern and northeastern China in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). When China constructed the Panjiakou reservoir here in 1975, these two section of the Great Wall were immerged by water.

Suffered from years' drought, the water level of the reservoir droped greatly and the "Great Wall beneath water" emerged from water once in the last years of the 20th century. Recently, the water level of the reservoir declined even further and the unique scene reappeared for the second time.
