Twelve medical staff recovering from the atypical pneumonia were released from a Hong Kong hospital on Saturday.
Nine of them said, standing at lobby of the hospital, that theywere eager to resume their duties to take care of the patients against the spreading disease.
The three doctors, three nurses and three medical students werethe first medical staff being infected with the atypical pneumonia.They were admitted to the hospital on March 11.
According to the Health Authority, a total of 156 medical staffwere infected with the atypical pneumonia and 24 have so far recovered and been released from hospital.
Dr. Wong, released with his colleagues, said it was his first time to be sent into hospital.
"During my three-week stay in hospital, I realized how important the spiritual support from doctors and nurses is for thepatients. I felt so touched by my doctors, who are also my colleagues, who came to the ward to see me every day," Wong said.
"I really want to resume my duties as soon as possible to help ease the heavy workload of my colleagues and take care of those who are struck down by the disease," he said.
