806 SARS Cases Found in China: WHO Official

A total of 806 SARS cases, the so-called "atypical pneumonia", had been found in China and 34 people had died, said an official with the World Health Organization office in Beijing Friday.

A total of 806 SARS cases had been found in China and 34 people had died, said an official with the World Health Organization office Friday in Beijing.

The official said the so-called "atypical pneumonia" in China was the disease that was popular in the world and was called Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

So far, a total of 1408 cases had been found in the world and 53 had died.

The Chinese Ministry of Health had said it would cooperate with the WHO closely to combat the disease, according to the WHO official.
