Guyana will continue cooperation with China to deal with the challenges of economic globalization, Guyanese President Bharrat Jagdeo said Friday.
Delivering a speech at the China Foreign Affairs College, Jagdeo said the international conditions for developing countries were deteriorating, adding that developing countries were facing the danger of becoming decentralized and marginalized in economic globalization.
He called for all developing countries to maintain their solidarity and cooperation to cope with emerging unilateralism in politics and economy.
Jagdeo told the college students that Guyana and China shared a long-standing relationship and bilateral ties, which had progressed continuously since they forged diplomatic relations 30 years ago.
Jagdeo also revealed that negotiations on the Free Trade Area of the Americas had reached some framework agreements.
The Guyanese president arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon, beginning an eight-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
