The United States will provisionally administrate Iraq after the war, Australian Prime Minister John Howard said Friday.
Howard told a press conference he had talks with US President George W. Bush overnight and discussed the post-war situation in Iraq. "There will be an interim period where you will have a US-led administration," he said.
He hinted the coalition forces will use Iraqi resources in their war against that country's regime. Howard said that during his talks with Bush, the president indicated there were adequate resources now in Iraq and on their way to achieve the military objectives of the coalition.
He described the way the coalition is taking in the war as "ethical." "The ethical way in which the coalition is conducting this campaign is in stark contrast with the absolute disregard for human life which has been a hallmark of the Iraqi regime," he said.
