Iraqi troops have shot down another US unmanned reconnaissance drone in the city of Basra, and the footage of the drone will be broadcast soon, the Al Jazeera TV reported Thursday.
Earlier the Qatar-based television broadcast the footage of a downed US Army Apache helicopter as well as the wreckage of an unmanned reconnaissance drone and three armed vehicles.
The report said the downed planes and destroyed vehicles were the result of reported heavy fighting that took place between Iraqitroops and invading US-British forces near the northern city of Najaf and the southern city of Basra in the past days.
No word has been said on the fate of the pilots of the Apache helicopter, which bore the markings of the US Army's 1st Cavalry.
There was no official confirmation yet from the US and British military authorities, which are usually forced to admit the loss ofany plane or personnel only after Iraq's broadcasting of the footage.
On Tuesday, Iraqi Information Minister Mohammad Said Al-Sahaf claimed that Iraqi troops had downed three US Apache helicopters, one of them was shown on the Iraqi television.
